10-year-old sets new 3-6-3 record!

There is new claim to the 3-6-3 overall world record, and the last name is not Purugganan. Kennard Gardner, age 10, hit 2.08 seconds on March 13th at the Maryland State Sport Stacking Championships in Baltimore. A WSSA video review of Kennard's 3-6-3 verified it was a clean run and indeed a new world record. The young Maryland resident is from Glen Burnie. The previous 3-6-3 world record was held by Steven Purugganan with a time of 2.15 seconds. The new overall record comes right before the 2010 WSSA World Sport Stacking Championships where the world's fastest stackers will be looking to meet or beat the new record. Congratulations Kennard!

World Record matched in 3-3-3

The Mid-Atlantic Regional Sport Stacking Championships provided some world-record stacking this year. For Lawrence Maceren, it was where he tied the Overall World Record in the 3-3-3 with a blistering time of 1.80 seconds. The 13-year-old from Freehold, New Jersey, joins Steven Purugganan in the world record books for this event. The Mid-Atlantic Championships took place in Laurel, Delaware in January and drew 190 stackers from Connecticut, Washington, D.C., Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia.

In addition to Lawrence's Overall World Record, there were five Division World Records set at this tournament. Steven Purugganan from Massachusetts claimed all the individual events for 12-year-olds with 1.81 seconds for the 3-3-3, 2.21 seconds for the 3-6-3 and 6.11 seconds for the Cycle. In the 16-year-old division, Malcolm Richardson from Maryland hit 2.09 seconds for the 3-3-3 and 2.44 seconds for the 3-6-3.

German brothers tie Overall Doubles World Record

Jonathan and Samuel Kettler can officially lay claim to the Overall Doubles World Record of 7.47 seconds, though they have to share the honor with Luke Myers and Tyler Cole, who originally set the record in September, 2009 at the Tri-State Sport Stacking Championships in Quincy, Illinois.

The German brothers (Samuel, 16 and Johnathan 14) tied the world-record time on November 14, 2009 at the Weidig Open in Butzbach, Hesse, Germany. The teen-age brothers live in Nieder-Fuellbach near Coburg, Bavaria in Germany.

The Weidig Open was also the site of four new Division World Records. In the Masters 3 Division, Illona Ruehl claimed records for the 3-3-3 with a time of 2.86 seconds and the 3-6-3 with a time of 3.58 seconds. She and stacking partner Wolfgang Bleischwitz earned another Master's Division World Record with a time of 11.38 seconds in Doubles. In the Collegiate Division, Clemens Schlink hit a world record time of 2.93 seconds for the 3-6-3.

Congratulations to all of the stackers at the Weidig Open and especially to those who put their names in the WSSA record book!
